Deluge VI: Festival of the Holy Spirit

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

It is my joy to announce and remind you of our annual Deluge festival that will begin tom. Night (Sun. the 22nd) at Bethany North in Baker, LA. This is one of my favorite times of the year as we set aside 3 days to honor and celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. This exciting time is filled with extended worship flow, dynamic exhortation in the Word, and out of control downpours of the river of God!

The vision for Deluge is to re-instate the idea of a festival to the Lord. While the wicked festival of Mardi Gras is going on in NO we are dancing and rejoicing in the freedom of the Holy Spirit. While students are out of school for the holiday we give them the opportunity to be in the house of God instead of in the drunken revelry of sin.

If you are in the area or feel like taking a holiday drive to BR, then join us for this awesome time of refreshing in the presence of the Lord. Services start at 7 each night and 10am on Monday and Tues. The mornings will be total river flow revival services. You don’t want to miss it! For all info, go to 220power.com and click the link for Deluge 6. Hope to see you there!!!

Ps. Monday night will be community night as we host Past. Marvin Winans from Perfecting Church in Detroit, MI.

Blood Cries Out

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Gen. 4:10,11- But the Lord said, What have you done? LISTEN! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground! Now you are cursed and banished from the ground which has swallowed your brother’s blood.

Ever since the first murder in history God has made it clear that He despises murder and that the blood of the innocent cries out to Him for vengeance. Sadly, today, our country and the world we live in has become completely numb to the cries of millions of innocent babies who are made in the divine image of God and meant to live their lives on this earth with the same opportunity as we have. Yet 115,000 a day (which is 5000 an hour) are murdered in the cities of our great nation and we go on about our business as if nothing were happening. The land is being polluted with blood before our very eyes! This sin is not just happening here in the great United States but also around the world. Last year, over 42 million babies were murdered globally. This sort of tragedy is beyond our comprehension.

What can we as Christians do? Glad you asked!
1. Recognize- that every child is ordained of God and has a purpose on this earth. No man or woman has the right to deny a child the right to live and be all that God intended for them to be in the earth. See Jer. 1:5

2. Repent- for not giving this issue the proper place of priority in our daily lives. For acting as if this were something that a select few should fool with because they have the time and education while excusing ourselves as believers from the responsibility of fighting against this onslaught of the enemy against the future establishers of God’s Kingdom on the earth.

3. Refuse- to make any apologies for our stand against death and for life. It was so grieving to me and the Lord when so many Christians allowed the media to convince them in this last election that abortion was not important enough an issue to keep you from voting for pro-abortion candidates. God forgive us!

4. Relentless- never stopping in our pursuit of standing up for life. Not excusing ourselves from the battle and not being intimidated by every foul spirit of murder and propaganda that would try to stop and appease us as believers from giving a voice to the unborn. Oh! how much more I could say today but I will stop here for sake of time. Trust me, there will be more to come!

Prov. 30:8- Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.

Made it a Year

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Tonight as I write this, it has been a complete year since the home going of my beloved Amy. God, in His grace, has had mercy on me by letting time seem to fly over this last year. Though it has been the hardest year of my life, His grace has carried me and I know that major progress has been made in healing emotionally and moving forward as a man of God. Moving forward is always what the Lord has for us but trusting Him to walk forward can be hard. I have seen over this last year that there are 2 distinct arenas that must be understood and dealt with in order to move forward from any type of tragedy as a believer.

The first big thing is your faith. When something happens that you believed was not or could not happen it shakes your faith. It makes you back up and question if what you believe is true or not. In my case, why would God promise healing and pay for it and then not provide it for my Amy? This question was something that shook me to the very core of who I was spiritually. The answer to my question and the re-establishment of my faith was found in this past year and now I can say with great confidence that my faith has never been stronger! Since Oral Roberts prayed over me something was triggered and all hesitation was destroyed. Praise you Jesus!!! (I will write more about this later)

The second area, and the hardest, is the emotional side of things. This is a separate issue that is yet dependent upon your victory in the first area of your faith. Emotions are something that you can’t stop, nor should you. Control, yes!, but not stop. It is unhealthy to stay bottled up. You never know when the emotions of something traumatic will overtake you and sadness, regret, or even anger can come rolling over your soul like a thunder storm. There has been many tears shed this past year and I am sure more to come, but they are healing tears and bring release to the deep fountains of my soul.

Having said all this, please know that my heart is healing, my spirit alive, and my body daily being healed and renewed. Amy would be proud to know how her life is thought of with such honor by tens of thousands and how many young ladies have aspired to be all that God has called them to be because of her bravery and example. Even though most of this post has been about me (cause she is gone and we are here!) I want to honor her on this day as the queen that she is. Jesus you have our best! (tears)

Prov. 31:29- There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!

Reflections on Election 08

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Now that the elections of Nov are over and we have a new president in office, I have been reflecting on things that happened in the days leading up to that historic day and the days immediately following. There was and still is a great disappointment in my heart at the way people in the body of Christ were divided and lashed out one toward another over something so earthly and temporal. (Paul said to the Philippians in 1:27- Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News of Christ)

In Jan. I had the opportunity to sit down with many leading apostles, prophets, and pastors to discuss issues in the body of Christ. One of the main things talked about was how it seemed that anyone who was white that raised any type of issue against now President Obama was immediately labeled a racist. Anyone who was African American who spoke out in warning of issues and wrong views was labeled a traitor to their race, even for just voting their conscience!!! This was all very disturbing to me and many other leaders. I, for one, was attacked for even daring to mention any words of caution against our President. (who has already overturned all executive orders stopping abortion on our military bases) The fact remains that we have many battles to fight for the morality of our nation and no, President Obama is not our enemy, but he is on the wrong side of the fence in 2 of the main areas of morality that the Bible speaks explicitly about, tolerance for homosexuality and the condoning of infant murder. There are many issues that we need to unite and stand with our President on, as well as, praying for him without ceasing (which I have found myself doing a lot of lately).

The bottom line is that anyone who called a brother or sister in Christ a racist should examine their heart and repent if that accusation was unfounded and false. Anyone who called anyone of any color a traitor for voting a different candidate should really examine their heart to see if now that things are cooled down they were operating in the spirit of Christ Jesus. I am not looking for apologies personally but desiring for us to learn from our mistakes and not allow this type of thing to tear us apart in the future. For the next election we should all be allowed to vote our conscience and men and women of God should be allowed to voice what the Word of God and the Spirit of God may be saying to them in both favorable and warning words. This was and is the job of the prophetic since the beginning and will remain until all is said and done.

Let us all do our part in healing the self-inflicted wounds and allow the maturity of Christ to be developed so that we are not found vulnerable again in the seasons to come. He return is near!!!
