Saddleback Showdown

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Last night I had the privilege of watching the first presidential forum hosted at Saddleback Church in Cal. Many of you know the pastor of that great church named Rick Warren, author of Purpose-Driven Life. His life and writing are a great inspiration to millions and God has raised Him up for this hour to help the body of Christ around the world.
The forum last night really brought insight into the stand of the two candidates from a Biblical and Christian perspective. While Democratic hopeful Sen. Obama declared his personal relationship with Jesus, he also boldly declared his position for abortion, for gay civil unions, and the age old liberal idea of wealth redistribution. Meanwhile Sen. McCain made it clear that he believed that life begins at conception, gay marriage would not be allowed in any level, and that finding new energy sources are a huge priority for us as a nation and we must begin drilling immediately. Many other questions on the existence of evil, reasons to go to war, and 3 most important influences or advisors in life were asked in order to get an overall feel for what the values of each candidate would look like.
What I liked about the whole thing was that this was the first appearance of both candidates on the same platform and it was in a church being hosted by a pastor. This destroys the left-wing idealogy that there should be no interaction between church and state. Both sides should never move into control (Communism or English state church). This doesn’t mean that the church shouldn’t desire influence of Biblical values this nation was birthed under to prevail throughout the process of our democratic govt. Past. Rick Warren kept things light and didn’t try to vilify either candidate. He simply asked the questions that we should want to know as Bible believing Christians in order to know how to vote our values correctly in Nov.
Our job as believers is not to vote based on who we like the most (like a popularity contest), who is closest to our racial background and experience, but the man who closest fits the qualities of integrity to the Scriptures and the character of Christ. This is our responsibility and I think it becomes very clear what we must do as citizens of this great country. Morality must prevail over any issues of race, gender, money, or any other issue that would try and steal the spotlight from the battle for the soul of our nation.
Ps. much more to come on this subject in the months leading up to the election

I’m Back…

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Dear Friends, I write to you today with the ability to type once again. Praise God. Though limited, my hand and arm are fast recovering and the success of the operation continues to be total. We serve an awesome God!
I will be writing many things that are on my heart in the days to come as the Lord has been speaking to me mightily over these past weeks, but today just want to say a big thank you for all your prayers and continued agreement with me for all sickness and disease to leave my body. My body must line up with His perfect, redeemed Body and that is the only option! Total healing is mine and going to the nations is inevitable! Our adversary is completely defeated and disarmed and our faith has limitless possibilities of victory.
Be strengthened and encouraged my dear brothers and sisters and know that your prayers and comments of encouragement were a continual source of blessing and strength to me over the last few weeks. For all my friends at North campus I will see you there tom, Lord willing. His presence will be so refreshing for me having missed out this last week. Gal. 2:20

Phase 2 Recovery

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Well, it’s Saturday evening and it’s been five days since the surgery. Everything is going pretty smoothly with the recovery. Made it home from San Antonio around noon today, now begins the long process of full recovery in both my arm and leg. The doctor has given me instructions that my arm is to be kept straight and held up above my heart for at least two more weeks. This is a huge hassle! Nonetheless, I am very relieved to have the surgery behind me, to know it was successful, and to be moving on with the recovery and healing process. Thanks to my dear sister for typing this.
